This Bat Box is made to RSPB specifications and is successful, the box is made from 19mm thick European redwood pine and is left rough sawn to allow the bats to climb up into the roosting areas, in addition slots have been cut to act as a ladder for ease of climbing into the box. Each box has two ample chambers that allow many bats to rest. Building a bat box gives them somewhere safe to roost, raise their pups and sleep during the day. Bats are having a tough time, many of their natural roosting places are being damaged and destroyed. Once you have put it up don’t disturb it, as bats are protected by law. why not buy one or two, as research has shown that bats are more likely to roost if you have several boxes up near each other. We supply the box with wire and screws to either affix to trees or you could put it under the eaves of your house or, if you have a large garden, on the trunk of a mature tree. Look for a spot that is at least 3m (10 feet) from the ground, sheltered from strong winds and exposed to the sun for part of the day. Position your box so it faces between southwest and southeast. Make sure there is a clear flight line in. Please see the specification sheet for dimensions.
