This box is made from 18mm European Redwood timber, the lid is made from external plywood and painted with water-based Protek paint, which is extremely weather resistant allowing the box to be watertight and cooler in the summer months.

All the timber I use is 19mm thick European redwood Pine and is sourced from a U.K company with a superb sustainability policy. The timber is left natural rough sawn to enable the fledglings to climb out when they are ready to leave the box. The boxes are made from a very durable and robust thickness of timber that is chunky and strong. It will be resilient to all weathers and has proved to be a lovely home for many breeding birds and even a resting space overnight for individual birds.
